Finishing Options
Old Globe Floors are available with several surfacing options, which include Original Face, Rustic, Patina, and Smooth Planed.
Original Face
Old Globe's "Original Face" surface is popular with artisans and installers who wish to sand and finish themselves, or who have an application for an authentic rough sawn surface.
Rustic
In order to achieve our signature "Rustic" look, EACH and EVERY board is carefully hand sanded by our craftsmen to preserve the patina and character. Several coats of Tung oil are applied and rubbed out by hand over a number of days.
Patina
Old Globe's "Patina" surface is achieved through a proprietary machine sanding process which offers a look that is similar to our "Rustic," but at a more affordable price.
Smooth Planed
Old Globe's "Smooth" surface is machine planed for a less rustic look, yet still offers the character of square nail holes and blue and/or ferrous staining.
Old Globe Floors are available with several pre-finishing options, which include hand-rubbed, heat-treated Tung Oil, and either water-based or oil-based polyurethanes. Stain colors are also available. By using or combining these finishes, we are able to achieve different looks and different gloss levels.
